Frequently Asked Questions

General

Can I take Ark on flights with me?
Ark’s battery capacity of 27,000mAh or 97.2Wh (watt-hours) is safely below the International Air Transport Association’s (IATA) guidelines for the maximum size power bank that can be taken on flights (99Wh) when in your carry-on luggage.

Like all personal power banks, Ark cannot be stored in checked luggage.

While the vast majority of airlines follow these guidelines, it remains at the discretion of individual airlines whether lithium-ion power banks are permitted.
What ports should I use to charge my laptop and phone together?
To ensure your laptop charges at the highest possible speed, we recommend using the USB-A port to charge your phone, and either of the USB-C ports to charge your laptop.

This will result in speeds of up to 22 watts for your phone, and the remainder of Ark’s 140W for your laptop.

If you need to use both USB-C ports at once, their maximum speeds will both drop to 65W, which may not be enough to charge some high-power laptops.
How do I adjust switch Ark’s screen to always display when charging?
If you want Ark’s screen to stay on longer while charging, press the button three times to reach the “Screen Display Time” screen, and then hold the button down until it switches from “30s Power Off” to “Always On”.

Please note that Ark’s battery will drain faster while the screen is active.
Can I dispose of Ark in my general waste bin?
No. Ark’s lithium-ion battery, when unattended in an uncontrolled environment, may pose a long-term fire hazard.

Like other lithium-ion power banks, Ark must be disposed of at special collection points for safe processing.

Please consult your local authorities, or the retailer you purchased your power bank from, for the correct way to dispose of power banks like Ark.
What safety features does Ark have?
Being a high-capacity lithium-ion battery, Ark was designed with a number of robust safety features to protect you and your devices, including:

• Overcurrent protection
• Overvoltage protection
• Short-circuit protections
• Fire-retardant materials
• High-temperature protections
• Interference protections
What information does Ark’s screen provide?
Ark’s display tells you:
• How much charge the battery has.
• The current charging/input speed of all Ark’s USB ports
• How long it’ll Ark’s battery to charge or run out at the current speeds
• How long Ark has been in operation
• The battery’s current maximum capacity, as a percentage of its initial maximum capacity. This is very useful for monitoring Ark’s overall health.
• The current temperature of Ark’s battery cells.
• The percentage Ark’s battery was last charged to
• The number of full battery cycles your Ark has had
• The total charging your Ark has done across its lifetime, measured in watt-hours
Does Ark support MacBooks and other Thunderbolt laptops?
Yes – Ark works with any computer with Thunderbolt 3 or Thunderbolt 4 ports.
Why isn’t Ark charging my device at 140W?
While Ark supports charging speeds of up to 140W over USB-C, many devices do not.

In order to charge at 140W, you must be using a cable and device which support USB PD 3.1, a charging standard which was introduced in 2021.

Additionally, charging speed may vary due a number of factors, including how full the device being charged’s battery is, whether other devices are connected and their operating temperature.

Many laptops do not support charging speeds above 60-70W.

Living up to expectations

I had read a review that made me worry about the device not working after a couple cycles. However, I have run it through several cycles now and it is behaving as expected. So far I am very happy with this power bank.

2 bats and both failed

I purchased the ark 270000 nearly a year ago. After 2 charge cycles it failed. Took nearly year to get the replacement after minimum Of 30 emails and lots of stalling. Finally just returned the battery and got a refund And ordered a new one. Now the new one has failed after two cycles hopefully didn’t take me a year to get a refund, but I’m moving on.
